Meet the Board of Directors

SEI Board Members are elected on an annual basis in the beginning of fall (September/October). All SEI members are encouraged to write their name in to be on the ballot. There are no specific requirements to entering the ballot other than having a membership. Additional information (including board member position descriptions) can be found in the SEI Maryland Bylaws

Susanne has been actively involved in SEI-MD for the past 6 years.  She is the current President and was the past Vice President, Treasurer, and Activity Coordinator.  Susanne is the Founder and President of Spyder Engineers, LLC. with 16 years of structural engineering experience.  She attained her Bachelor of Science and Master of Engineering from the University of Maryland. Susanne was the recipient of the Professional Women in Construction Rising Star Award that recognizes women for career achievement, excellence in job performance, leadership, and exceptional work on a notable project.  Susanne is the Past President of Toastmasters and member of the ASCE.


Marcus has been actively involved with SEI-MD for two years and is the current treasurer.  He is a structural engineer with more than eight years of experience in the area of bridge design and inspection, bridge rehabilitation, and design of structures related to transportation. He is a Project Engineer and Inspection Team Leader for Pennoni’s Transportation Division in Baltimore. Marcus currently holds Professional Engineering Licenses in the states of MD, DE and VA. He has a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from Montana State University. He is a member of ASCE, SEI, and the Geo-Institute.

Jason earned his BA degree in Architecture at the University of California at Berkeley. He possesses a CEAA graduate degree in History and Theory of Architecture from the École d'Architecture de Paris Villemin (France), an MA degree in Urban Rehabilitation and City Politics from the École Supérieure De Commerce Marseille-Provence (France), and a Master of Architecture and a PhD in Civil Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. Jason has been involved in higher education since 1999, teaching at institutions such as the University of Texas at Austin, Frederick University in Cyprus, and currently at Morgan State University. He is a recipient of a number of awards including a Fulbright scholarship and the Peterson Prize on Historic Preservation, and he participated in numerous projects as practicing architect and engineer both in Europe and in the US.  Jason is a registered architect, civil engineer, and sustainability professional Env_SP in Europe and in the US. His research interests are directed on design automation, numerical methods for the construction professionals, space structures, construction materials, and sustainable design, focusing specifically on passive energy control, and building materials.

Mehedi is a Senior Structural Engineer and Project Manager with Moffatt and Nichol (M&N) Engineers.  He possesses over 16 years of structural engineering experience with a focus on structural analysis, design and construction support services for large scale/complex civil infrastructure projects that include port and marine structures, highway and light rail bridges, offshore wind turbine foundation systems, offshore structures, etc. Mr. Rashid serves as a voting member in various technical committees including Pile Design Committee and Pile Producers Committee for the Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute (PCI).  He attained his Master of Science in Structural Engineering from South Dakota School of Mine & Tech (SDSM&T) and Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Tech. He is a Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in ten different states and a Licensed Structural Engineer (SE) in the states of Washington, Illinois and Massachusetts.  

Matt is a Senior Project Manager of the Marine Division at McLaren Engineering Group. He earned his B.S. and M.C.E. degrees from Johns Hopkins University.
He is the Treasurer of the Redwood Chapter of Toastmasters International, a veteran member of the ASCE Dry Dock Standards Committee, ASCE Structural Condition Assessment and Rehabilitation of Buildings Committee, ASCE Baltimore Engineers Golf League, and volunteer inspector for historic stone culverts along the C&O Canal. Matt has been recognized as a leader among his peers on numerous occasions; he was named a 2014 Rising Star by Civil+Structural Engineer Magazine, was the recipient of the top-tier SEI Young Professional Scholarship to attend the 2013 Structures Congress, and selected for full ASCE sponsorship to represent ASCE at the 2013 Emerging Leadership Alliance Conference.
